About Me
Hello, and thanks for visiting Enchanted Childe! My name is Sarah
(Atkins) Costanzo. I'm the artist and illustrator whose work is shown
on this website. I've never liked bios, especially about myself, and
they always sound better than they really are, don't they? This one is
from me, personally, and I'll try to keep it short.
I grew up in a rural part of northeastern Pennsylvania, where I had a
deep appreciation for nature and my surroundings. I'd often sit
beneath our old apple tree, (the Hollow Tree), and sketch
neighboring cows, frogs and butterflies, dreaming of the faeries
and elves whom I believed had their own magical world beneath
the Hollow Tree.
As I grew up, my life changed & became busy, as it seems to do. I
went to school, work, & got married. It wasn't until 2002 that I picked
up my pencil and sketchbook again, this time drawing portraits of
children, specifically, my daughter, while I was undergoing
chemotherapy for Hodgkin's lymphoma. Becoming a mother and a
cancer patient simultaneously truly changed my life, and helped me
connect with my art again, though on a deeper level than ever
before. I have since been blessed with 2 more children, and am
very fortunate to have beaten my illness and have a second chance
at life.
Though I am busy raising my 3 beautiful children, I still manage to
squeeze in a little time for my art.
I have exhibited in the US and Great Britain, and have won several
awards for my work.
I am a very positive person who tries to live life to its fullest. Life is
so beautiful, and I try to capture those tiny moments in pencil,
whether seen or unseen.I also enjoy antiques and old junk,
gardening, traveling, writing, & many other creative endeavors. I
have a happy little life with my amazing husband, beautiful kids, &
a plethora of furry babies as well!
Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my work and to
share a small glimpse into my life. My art, like my life, is a
perpetual work in progress, and I hope you'll visit again soon!
Love & Blessings,
Sarah
